Most workers no longer need an exit permit to leave Qatar, but your bills, fines and loans still need to be settled first.

Work and final settlement

Resign with the right noticeUsually one or two months, depending on your years of service and your contract.
Check your end-of-service gratuityAt least three weeks' basic pay for each year of service, after one year.
Collect final pay and unused leave

Settle electricity and water (Kahramaa)Ask for a clearance; the final bill releases your deposit.
Pay traffic finesCheck on Metrash.
Clear loans and credit cardsUnpaid debts can lead to a travel ban.

How is gratuity calculated in Qatar?

At least three weeks of your basic wage for each year of service, once you've completed a year. Your contract can give more.

Do I need an exit permit to leave Qatar?

Most workers no longer do, since the rules changed in 2018 and 2020. You still need to settle bills, fines and loans before you go.
